Il Concerto
E’un percorso musicale e canoro per una Europa unita, solidale e senza discriminazioni dal titolo: Romano drom- Viaggio concerto nella musica rom. Il concerto rappresenta un evento artistico e culturale originale e di grande spessore in cui viene proposta musica Rom con canti in lingua romanì composti da Alexian Santino Spinelli. Fin dal Rinascimento i Rom girando di piazza in piazza e di castello in castello hanno influenzato i musicisti colti apportando novità ritmiche e musicali oltre che strumentali. E’ a partire dall’epoca Romantica, nel momento in cui si affermano i concetti di nazione, radici culturali, folklore locale, etc. che i grandi compositori come Listz, Brahms, Schubert e più tardi Dvorak, Mussoskj, Ravel, Debussy, Bartok, Stravinskj, hanno attinto a piene mani dalla tradizione musicale romanì. La novità assoluta è che in questo concerto la musica romanì non è assorbita dalla musica classica, ma al contrario l’orchestra classica accompagna e s’ integra nella musica romanì eseguendo un concerto di partiture originali composte ed eseguite dall’autore Rom.
Il concerto è un viaggio artistico-culturale in cui vengono rievocate attraverso i suoni, le parole e i colori, le radici profonde di un popolo millenario caratterizzato dalle prismatiche sfumature e dalle intensissime emozioni. Un viaggio nell’intimità della storia e della cultura di un popolo trasnazionale. Le musiche proposte in cui si rintracciano gli echi del passato sono quelle dell’ambito familiare che i Rom suonano per tramandarsi, per comunicare e per restare uniti. I canti sono memorie mai scritte in cui si custodiscono valori etici, filosofici e linguistici di un popolo dalle molteplici espressioni.
L’Europa, mosaico culturale, è anche un mosaico musicale e ogni popolo è custode di ritmi e di stili che si sono rinnovati attraverso i secoli. A questo ricco mosaico culturale europeo anche i Rom, originari dell’India del Nord, hanno dato il loro apporto, con colori e forme distinti. Questo concerto, con il suo spessore artistico e la sua originalità, attraverso le composizioni e l’esecuzione di Alexian Santino Spinelli e il suo gruppo è un ulteriore contributo alla cultura europea da parte dei Rom, un popolo che non ha mai dichiarato guerra a nessuno, non ha mai avuto un esercito e non ha mai attuato nessuna forma di terrorismo.

The Concert

A concert of symphonic music and song to promote a united Europe free from discrimination: “Romano Drom – a concert-journey into Romany music”. For this unique artistic and cultural event Alexian Group will be joined by the European Orchestra for Peace in a performance of original Romany music and songs composed and arranged by Alexian Santino Spinelli, promoter and art director for this event.

Romany musicians have wandered from square to square and castle to castle since the Renaissance period and have influenced and inspired refined musicians with new musical rhythms and instruments. But it was mainly in the Romantic period (when the concepts of nationality, cultural roots, local folklore and freedom were asserting themselves) that the great composers, such as Liszt, Brahms, Schubert, and later Dvorak, Mussorgsky, Ravel, Debussy, Bartok and Stravinsky drew inspiration from the Romany musical tradition.
What is totally new for this concert, however, is that Romany music is not absorbed by classical art music - instead the orchestra will accompany and blend in with Romany music using an original score performed by the Roma composer himself.
The concert is an artistic-cultural journey in which the deep roots of a centuries-old people distinguished by prismatic nuances and intense emotions are recalled through sounds, words and colours.
It is a journey into the intimate aspects of the history and culture of a transnational people. The music performed in the concerts, in which the echoes of the past can be heard, is the music performed in a family setting, music the Roma play to hand down a memory, to communicate and stay together. The songs are unwritten memories which enclose the ethical, philosophical and linguistic values of a multi-faceted people.
Europe is a cultural mosaic, it is also a musical mosaic and every nation is a repository of rhythms and styles that have evolved over the centuries. This rich European cultural mosaic has also been enriched and influenced by the colour and distinct forms of music created by the Romany people who originated from Northern India.
This concert, with its artistic importance and originality, and through the compositions and performance by Alexian Santino Spinelli and his group, is yet a further contribution to European culture by the Roma people, people who have never declared war on anybody, never formed an army or carried out any act of terrorism.
